Roll Call Roll Up

Page history last edited by PBworks 15 years, 6 months ago

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I had a smashing time at

Roll Call, despite finishing last!

The winner of the 15mm DBMM was Peter Haines with Late Imperial

Romans (Eastern), second was Ian Austin with Ghaznavids and third

was Tim Child with Huns (Western).

I played 3 out of 4 games, first against Ian Austin where I decided

to play too defensively with my foot and too aggressively with my

mounted and paid the penalty with a 25-0 loss. Second game was a bye

as there were only the 7 of us playing. Third game was against Peter

Haines, the rather odd situation of two LIR Eastern armies

supposedly headed by Constantius II(Inert)! Much banter along the

lines of 'I'm Constantius, no, I'm constantius' (Think Sparticus

here). Anyway, The big infantry clash saw Peter roundly thrashing

me, another 25-0 loss. My last game was against Tony Dennis who was

using Normans. Things began to look up for me in this last game as I

had gained some very useful experience in my previous two games and

played a much better game. The game was looking like a loss for me

right upto the last bound when my last two Clibanarii of my only

broken command managed to destroy a Kn(F) and that commands General,

breaking it in turn! Tony had lost more ME than me but our penalty

points were the same, although I did forget his center command was

disheartened and may have broken due to receiving the 2ME loss for

being within 800p of a broken command, but these things happen and I

was content with a 13-12 victory.

A very enjoyable set of games where I only had to consult my

rulebook once whilst playing Peter just to make sure I was not going

to make an illegal move, and only had to ask the umpire once for

advice just to make sure that Tony was not cheated out of making a

legal move.
