1. Contacting the End of a Line
When a double-depth line of infantry based on 40mmx20mm bases is contacted at one end but not frontally then the two end elements (A and B) turn as per the figure below (Z is the enemy element that made a flank contact):
There has been some debate as to whether or not element B causes the -1 tactical factor for being a friendly element in contact with the rear of element A which prevents A from recoiling (since if elements C and D were not there it would not prevent A recoling).
The consensus at this point is that B does indeed cause A to suffer this -1 tactical factor.
