Lydians at Cancon under 10 (brief) - Tales of Lassie the war dog

I ran 400pts of Lydians at Cancon under v1.0. This is mainly for light reading.

400 points. 1 huge command of proto-hoplites, PsS and the king in his chariot. 2 commands Reg 5 KnF knights plus a few paphlagonian LhO (and a wardog each). 1 command Geometric Greeks AxS, a chariot and a CvI.

THe plan was for the protohoplites to take the brunt whilst the manouverable KnF won the game.

Game 1 V NKE. CvS chariots rolled into protohoplites and stripped them off, rank by rank. Geometric warriors duked it out with Egyptian BwO and BdF and did quite well. KnF died to some shooting, and CvS. Lassie 1 died on a Chariot. Lassie 2 charged at some egytian blade and were hacked to death. 23-2 or something

Under 1.1. proto hoplites would have hung around longer.

Game 2 V Some dodgy manchurian outfit (just kiddin nik).. Dancing manchurian KnF got in a tussle on the hill with the Lydian Knights,whilst avoiding the mass of protohoplites. The Geo warriors fought a desultory battle with some CvS, and it was looking okay for the Lydians, having broken the main manchurian command for the loss of the two Lydian KnF ommands, until the manchurian flank march came on and cleaned up the baggage, there being basically no Lydian mounted left to help out.

Lassie 1 died on knight. Lassie 2 ran into a forest or something. 22-3 maybe

Game 3 V Seluecid - I flank marched a KnF comand. It never arrived . A river dominated the left flank. Selucues did a dodgy brlliant command thing and swapped his left and right flank. Elephants, AxS and Pk rolled into the protohoplites and cleaned them out. The Geo warriors did some killin but not enough. .

Lassie 1 was ordered to cross the river, but drowned in the torrent (command broke as she was half way). Lassie 2 (and her Knf masters) stayed off table digging up bones in the forest. 22-3 maybe

Game 4 V Sassanids DOug Lined up. KnX, CS, El and some LHF and rolled forward, even into the RF where the Go warriors were. The protohoplites killed the odd thing but were being stripped back, rank by rank , the Geo's traded kills with the Sassies in the rough, but one command of KnF got roughly handled by CvS after disposing of some LhF. Too many dead protohoplites under El and KnX. I did get lucky and killed 2 elephants though and some CvS. 16-9 to Sassies

Observations - KnF brittle - SpO probably better value than SpI. Lassie dogs funny - for only a game ....
