1. Turning to Face Flank Contact on More Than One Element Combined with Rear Contact

Given two moves by two elements (X and Y) contacting a group of at least two elements (A and B) behind one another as per the first diagram below (Y moved into the rear of B and X moved into the flank of both A and B), how do they respond to the contact?

To resolve this situation means that the rules on rear contacts and flank contacts must be reconciled. The consensus is that B remains in place and must fight a combat in which a recoil will destroy B and that A must respond to the flank contact and hence X is moved back to make room.
