Book3/8 Central Asiatic City States (Sogdian variant)

Command 1

C-in-C Irr Cv (S) (Kn(F)didnt become compulsory)

9 x Chakar Irr Kn(F)

3 x Dihqan Irr Cv(S)

Army Baggage - 3ME

31ME

Dis - N/A

Breaks >10

Comprised solely of 2ME troops - strike command - need to kill 6 to

break the command

Command 2

Sub Irr Cv (S)

6 x Dihqan Irr Cv (S)

4 x Sassanids Irr Cv (O)

4 x Skirmishers Irr LH(F)

Army baggage = 3ME

27ME

Dis - >6.75

Breaks >9

Bit of a mixed bag - intended to protect/support the strike command

- the Cv(O)/LH(F) are prime ambush candidates

Command 3

Sub Irr Cv (S)

16 x Bowmen Irr Bw(O)

8 x Bowmen Irr Ps(O)

8 x Skirmishers Irr LH(F)

3 x Spearmen Irr Hd(O)

Army baggage 3ME

36.5ME

Dis >9

Breaks> 12

Intended to deploy on flank - Bowmen need to support the LH(F)

against better LH - probably look to Gs to provide defensive lines.

with archers behind them Again Ambush possibilities in this command

With Ag 0 - likley to defend

"Command 4"

6 x Bg(F)

ME 3

Dis >1.5

Breaks >2

Stratagems

Ambush

Total Army ME = 97.5 so its a fair size but all the manouevre of a

pregnant cow.

Likely deployment is 213 or 312

Likely Terrain selection is assuming defender - Oh for a CH

2 x G 1FE or 1/2FE (may go for D instead as if I can get some near my

base edge good place for the Camel Bg(F) to skulk) but the Gs do help

with ambush or defensive lines

1 x Oa or O depending what opponent has selected (ambush terrain)

probably some GHs but dont want to overstack these as they will

impinge on my Oa D or G placement

will select flank if using G and my base edge if using D

I dont really want RGo as this favours his Bd(I) who are dogmeat if

caught in the open but will hurt my archers (the Ps are there in that

case to buy time)

One I will be looking for is whether 2 commands with an equal mix of

Kn(F)/Cv(S) may be better the Cv(S) forming a second (controllable

line) behind the Kns - with the 3rd command being a mix inc the Cv(O)

who ambush.
